Eric French
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

Eric French is a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Dr. French received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. His research interests include a variety of topics in labor economics, health economics and econometrics. Dr. French has worked extensively with the HRS and AHEAD data sets. Recent applications include:  estimating the cross-sectional distribution and time series dynamics of medical expenditures; analyzing how Social Security, Medicare and employer-provided health insurance affect saving and retirement; and studying the saving behavior of the very old. Dr. French has also studied the evolution of labor supply and assets over the entire life cycle, the effects of the minimum wage, and the joint determination of wages and hours of work. His work has been published in Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Review of Economic Studies.
