Stephen P. Utkus
Principal, Vanguard Center for Retirement Research

Stephen P. Utkus received his MBA in Finance (1984) from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He conduct and sponsors Vanguard and independent research on retirement saving and investing patterns, with a focus on U.S. defined contribution savings plans. He serves as Vanguard spokesperson on a wide range of retirement savings and policy issues. His research interests include: worker expectations regarding retirement; the impact of psychological and behavioral factors, financial literacy and the internet on household financial decisionmaking; measurement of retirement adequacy; management of longevity risk and the financing of the paydown phase of retirement; and global developments in pension systems.
