David Knapp

David Knapp is a research scientist at the Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR), University of Southern California. He previously was an Associate Economist at RAND Corporation. Dave’s research focuses on the retirement, savings, and benefit claiming decisions of older households. He has used both reduced form and structural approaches in his research design and specializes in computational methods such as method of simulated moments for estimating complex economic models. His current work studies the effect of Social Security’s Spouse and Survivor’s benefits on the labor supply and benefit claiming decisions of households, as well as the impact of near retirement divorce on the labor supply decisions of men and women. Knapp holds a B.A. and a B.S. from The Ohio State University, and a M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.
