Elizabeth Powers is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Government and Public Affairs and the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the University of Illinois, she was an Economist in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. She also served as a Junior Staff Economist for the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President. She has published papers on the incentive effects of welfare programs and other welfare-related topics. Her research interests include public economics, welfare programs, and poverty and inequality. Dr. Powers received her PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
