Ronald Lee is the Edward G. and Nancy S. Jordan Family Professor Emeritus of Economics, and Professor Emeritus of Demography at the University of California at Berkeley. He is Associate Director of Berkeley’s Center for the Economics and Demography of Aging (CEDA), funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), and chaired the NAS Committee on Population from 1994-1997. He has served as Chair of an NIA Behavior and Sociology of Aging (NIA-S) grant review committee for demographic and economic aspects of aging. He is a Past President of the Population Association of America, and has received the Association’s Sheps Award and Taeuber Award. He has chaired the Social Sciences and Population Study Section of the National Institutes of Health. Lee currently holds a MERIT award from NIA. Lee’s research interests have focused on demographics and forecasting, including the issue of long-term projections for the Social Security System. His recent teaching at Berkeley includes courses on economic demography (undergraduate and graduate), on immigration to the U.S., and on economic and demographic aspects of aging.
